House and Apple - Season 6 Episode 6

Another weekly post of the Apple products in House M.D.
I was sad to see the 24" Apple Cinema Displays and Mac Pros in the MRI room from the last episode are now Dell. Boo.
Although, there were 2 iPhones in the same scene, and a couple of MacBook Pros to keep me happy.

Review: iPhone 3G Skin from Skinit.com

Rating:

Pros: Easy to remove with no residue left over, looks good

Cons: Does not offer all-over protection

Full Review:
In march of this year I started looking for a good cheap iPhone skin, as I was sick of the cumbersome cases I had at the time. I had decided that for me, the look was more important than it being scratched as I was going to keep the phone and never on-sell it.
I stumbled across the website skinit.com, which immediately caught my attention as you could upload your own picture to use as a skin.
Their upload utility was easy to use, although I recommend you make the image bigger than the template, as the printer may not align as shown. My image did not reach the bottom fully, even though it showed it did in the online template.
The order was shipped 2 days after I placed it.

Applying the skin was not extremely easy, as the volume buttons, camera etc need to line up exactly. However, if it doesn't work the first time, you can easily peel it off and try again until you get it right.
You do need to apply pressure to the edges for about 5mins to get it to stick properly, and if you have any problems applying it, there are some great how-to videos on YouTube.

The skin does leave the 4 corners unprotected, as well as the chrome bezel and the screen. If you are looking for something that provides all-over protection, there are other clear skins out there that cover the whole phone.
It also will not protect against dropping the phone etc. like a case.

However, it is nice and thin and looks great, so if you are looking for something aesthetically pleasing, then I highly recommend the skinit.com iPhone 3G skin.
